AWARENESS PROGRAMME ON " DISCRIMINATION FACED BY QUEER COMMUNITY"
Capacity - building is defined as the process of developing and strengthening the skills, instincts, abilities, processes and resources that organizations and communities need to survive, adapt, and thrive in a fast-changing world.
As part of the academic year (2024-2026) B.Ed course, the 13 students of English Optional from Kerala University College of Teacher education, Mancha executed a Mime act a s capacity building activity on 23rd October 2024 - "Discrimination faced by Queer Community".
The mime act portrayed the life journey of a transgender person who was born a male but grew upto act and behave like a female and the societal opposition and non-acceptance from the protagonists' parents, The constant refusals and disregard from the society leads the protagonist to commit suicide but was save by a philanthropist and brings the lead to a place where individuals from alike situations reside. The mime ends with the showcasing of an LGBTQ flag to show the unwavering support, encouragement and guidance needed from the side of the so called ''normal people" to enable them to realise their aspirations.
The act served as a powerful medium to raise awareness about transgender equality and advocate for a more inclusive and accepting society.
