A team comprising of 13 students (First year B.Ed students of English optional) and optional head Nithya K P teacher visited Jawaharlal Nehru Tropical Botanic Garden and Research Institute, Palode, TVM. The institute is a unique and phenomenal venture to conserve, preserve and sustainably utilize the plant wealth of the state. The largest living collection of trees and lianas numbering over 800 species, medicinal, aromatic and spice plants, orchids hybrids, aquatic plants etc... are made and maintained for conservation, display and education.
We reached Botanical Garden at 11:30 PM. First, we made a visit to the beautiful Bamboo Garden. After the lunch, we explored more of the garden and bought some plants to take home.
As a lover of literature, I found the botanical garden relaxing and inspiring. It is a spot for picnicking, photography, painting, meditation and mindfulness, reading and writing.
We enjoyed the visual beauty of the garden and the waterbody. The day was fun and educational with our friends and teacher. We left the garden at 4 PM.
