๐ŸŒŸReflections on the Thirty - fifth Day

The second day of Manjeeram Kalolsavam was vibrant and well-coordinated, with students actively participating in various cultural events. The judge’s feedback and prize distribution added value to the programmes. Assisting in organizing tasks gave me a sense of involvement, and the day concluded on a positive and memorable note.

24th September 2025 - Wednesday

#Thirty- sixth Day of Teaching Practice Phase I

Today I reached the school by 9:20 a.m. and signed the attendance register. A ground assembly was conducted at 9:45 a.m. During the assembly, Dr. Manju from Chembur Government Hospital delivered an awareness talk on amoebic meningoencephalitis.

The newly elected PTA executive members were introduced, followed by short speeches from the PTA members. The Assistant Commissioner of Excise presented an award to Ananya, a 9th-grade student, who had created a caption on the theme of drug abuse. In addition, the sub-district level runner-ups from the higher secondary section were honored by the him. An excise officer then delivered a speech highlighting the importance of saying no to drugs. With these programmes, the assembly concluded meaningfully.

I took two classes for the VII C standard students on this day.

Today, during the fourth period, I conducted a class on the "Passive Voice" using the Concept Attainment Model. The session began with an informal interaction to build rapport and capture students’ attention. Using positive and negative examples, students actively observed patterns, formed hypotheses, and engaged in discussions about the concept. During the guided phase, learners successfully identified passive forms from given sentences and converted active sentences into passive ones. They compared sentence structures, analyzed verb forms, and understood how the object in an active sentence becomes the subject in the passive voice. Activity cards and exercises helped students apply the rules correctly. The class progressed from a highly structured approach to a more moderate, student-centered format, encouraging independent thinking. Through inductive reasoning and discussion, learners developed critical thinking, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Afternoon, I helped in serving food to the school students as part of mid- day meal.

I conducted another class on the short story “Engine Trouble” by R K Narayan  in  the VIII C standard. The aim of the lesson was to help students understand humor and irony in the story, and realize that good fortune does not always bring happiness. I began the class with an informal discussion helping students personally connect with the theme and creating an engaging learning environment. During the reading session, I read aloud with proper stress and intonation, while students listened attentively and read silently to underline difficult words. We discussed the meaning and context of unfamiliar vocabulary, which reinforced comprehension and vocabulary skills. Students actively participated, answered questions creatively, and demonstrated understanding of key events and the author’s intent. Group activities like caption writing allowed them to collaborate and present their ideas and an assignment for writing the important works for R K Narayan was given.

๐ŸŒŸReflections on the Thirty- seventh Day

Today was a meaningful day at school. The morning assembly included awareness talks and prize distribution. I handled two classes successfully—Passive Voice using the Concept Attainment Model and the story "Engine Trouble" by R.K. Narayan. The day also involved serving midday meals and witnessing extracurricular activities, making it both engaging and fulfilling.

25th September 2025 - Thursday

#Thirty- seventh Day of Teaching Practice Phase I

Today, I reached the school  9:09 am and signed the attendance register by 9:35 am . In the third period which I got as substitution, Principal of my college, KUCTE Nedumangadu observed my class.  In the fourth period, I took the class for the 8 C students and taught the second paragraph of the  chapter " Engine Trouble'' by R K Narayan.

The informal interaction at the beginning helped to establish a good rapport and set a relaxed atmosphere. The entry activity using pictures and videos of circus motorcyclists and lottery games created curiosity and made the learners connect the topic with their own experiences.

The loud reading by the teacher, followed by track reading and silent reading by the students, ensured that all learners could follow the passage at their own pace. The vocabulary explanation was effective, as learners eagerly identified unfamiliar words, discussed them with peers, and noted down their meanings. The use of contextual examples, pictures, and ICT resources made the words clearer and memorable.

The scaffolded reading and questions encouraged critical thinking and helped the learners analyze the text in detail. The discourse construction on Gaiety Land was particularly successful, as students participated enthusiastically and contributed ideas, which were organized into a mind map.

The assignment—writing a short paragraph about a visit to Gaiety Land—was appropriate and creative.

In the afternoon, I helped in distributing the mid-day meal to the students. In the fifth period, I continued with the chapter " Engine Trouble " for the same class. The informal interaction at the beginning helped in establishing a good rapport with the students, and the entry activity using images of prizes created curiosity and interest among them. The link talk smoothly connected the learners’ prior experiences of games of chance with the theme of the lesson.

The loud reading by the teacher, followed by track reading and silent reading by the students, enabled the learners to develop proper pronunciation, tone, and expression. The vocabulary explanation was particularly useful, as the students actively identified unfamiliar words, wrote them on the blackboard, and clarified their meanings through contextual examples, pictures, and videos.

The scaffolded questions helped the students analyze the text in detail and ensured better comprehension.

The discourse construction was to write the headline on the entertainment given in Gaiety Land. After review and follow up, an assignment was given: To find out the words from the text that means astonished and the machine used for road work.
